Tom is a native Brazilian born to a family of German immigrants settled in south Brazil at the beginning of the last century.
In Brazil Tom worked in radio until he found his ultimate passion for the performing arts. After moving to São Paulo, the center of art and culture in Brazil, he studied acting and soon joined a theater company under Jose Ferro, a local director and producer. Tom never totally abandoned the radio and voiceovers were the main connection with the medium at this point. Television didn’t take long to become part of his life. Moving to Rio de Janeiro to resume studies and acting at the TV Globo, the main national TV broadcast network worldly famous for its soap operas, Tom continued his theater work and started taking singing lessons; a step that allowed him to join the two of his favorite art forms – acting and singing. While focusing on becoming a professional musical theater actor Tom fell in love with cabaret singing, intensified his voice studies and began learning from his favorite jazz singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Lena Horne, Shirley Horn, and Frank Sinatra among others.
Since 2005 Tom has been very fortunate to be living and working as an actor/singer in the most fascinating and competitive city of the world – New York City.
